Here, it's different.Job Overview Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and following established policies and procedures, performs a variety of technical procedures to support hospital inpatient or outpatient pharmacy operations.We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, team-oriented person to join our Pharmacy Team here at Children's Hospital Colorado. The Department of Pharmacy provides comprehensive clinical services to patients at Children's Hospital Colorado. The Pharmacy Technician will process and fill prescriptions, while undertaking other tasks at the direction of the pharmacist all the while providing excellent customer service.Additional Information Department Name: OP Retail Pharmacy
Job Status: 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits
Shift: Days/evenings (not a set schedule) and rotating weekends.
Shift Times: Monday - Friday, 8am-8pm. Saturday-Sunday, 9am-2pm.
Shift Length: Varies between 5-10 hours.
Weekend Requirement: Rotation determined by business need and training.
Holiday Requirement: No holidays at this time.Qualifications

• EDUCATION - High School Diploma or Equivalent
• EXPERIENCE -One (1) year of pharmacy technician experience
• EQUIVALENCY - Completion of pharmacy technician program may substitute for the one (1) year of the experience requirement.

  • State of Colorado Pharmacy Technician (PHAT) Certification
  • Certificate through a nationally recognized certification board or body approved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcare Association (NHA)Responsibilities POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

      • Prepares preparing unit-dose nonhazardous and hazardous medications and drug supplies for dispensing as directed by a licensed pharmacist.
      • Follows security/storage requirements of all medications including temperature monitoring.
      • Takes inventory and analyzes patient-care area medication supply; replaces outdated medications; replaces depleted inventory; performs cycle count. Independently performs inspections for medication outdates.
      • Restocks and delivers medications to patient care areas or clinics, as assigned, including automated dispensing machines; assists in resolving discrepancies.
      • Prepares non-parenteral nonhazardous and hazardous medications for dispensing including controlled substances; delivers medications.
      • Prepares parenteral medications for dispensing including controlled substances and may include any specialty area (such as chemotherapy, etc.) competency; maintains all required records for controlled substances.
      • Independently prepares medications for dispensing through pharmacy software while verifying all lot and expiration numbers; Follows the dispense prep/dispense check process in Epic when preparing medications.
      • Learns and applies standard pharmaceutical/medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in the prescribing and dispensing of medications.
      • Performs arithmetic calculations for usual dosage determinations required in medication and solution preparation.
      • Maintains inventory and supplies in assigned pharmacy area; ensures all inventory has a validate barcode process completed per established guidelines and procedures.
      • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement, environmental and infection control standards, adheres to regulatory requirements and maintains environmental cleanliness of the pharmacy areas in accordance with regulatory and policy requirements.
      • Performs charging and crediting of medication returns.
      • Reports adverse drug events and medication variances using the hospital variance reporting program (QSRS).
      • Maintains daily workflow to meet established priorities and production requirements and completes daily operations tasks utilizing assigned applications and software.
      • Maintains continuing education requirements for required certifications.
      • Assists in the onboarding of pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy residents, interns and students.
      • Assists with safety and quality improvement projects for the department.Other Information SCOPE AND LEVELGuidelines: Developmental, standard, or intermediate level.             Salary InformationAnnual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $40,281.66 to $60,422.48
            Hourly Salary Range: $19.37 to $29.05
