Job Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz
Medical Campus is one of the nation's premier academic pediatric
programs. Its clinical and educational programs are consistently
rated among the top ten nationally by US News and World Report. The
Department is also a leader among Child Health research programs
ranking third in the nation in the most recent listing of top
National Institutes of Health funded Pediatric Departments with
over $63 million in active NIH awards. The Department is seeking
qualified candidates for the Head of the Section of Pediatric
Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine
and Children's Hospital Colorado.
The Section of Emergency Medicine is home to a distinguished and
diverse emergency and urgent care faculty committed to excellence
in clinical care, research and education. With nearly 200 faculty
members, fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and staff, the Section
serves our patients by delivering cutting-edge emergency and urgent
care while advancing care through innovative research, quality
improvement, educational, and advocacy initiatives. We are looking
for an inspirational leader with a vision towards advancing the
mission of the Section as a premier program for Emergency Medicine
clinical care, research, and education.
The Anschutz Medical Campus/Children's Hospital Colorado Emergency
Department serves as the region's only Level I Regional Pediatric
Trauma Center, providing high-quality emergent care to a broad
geographic area including Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota,
Nebraska, Kansas, and New Mexico. The Section's faculty also
provides care at four additional emergency departments located in
Broomfield, Highlands Ranch, Parker, and Colorado Springs. Of these
four sites, two have an urgent care track: Broomfield and Highlands
Ranch.
The Section Head will be responsible for ongoing program
development, overseeing clinical practice programs, enhancing the
multi-disciplinary clinical and research programs, overseeing the
fellowship program, and fostering strong, collaborative
relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversees the programmatic and financial operations of the Section
to ensure financial and human resources are available to support
research, clinical care, educational, and advocacy/policy
activities.
Develops innovative clinical, educational and research programs to
enhance the local standing and national reputation of the
Section.
Directs the Section's educational and clinical training programs,
inclusive of residents, medical students, fellows, and
post-doctoral researchers.
Supports faculty recruitment and the infrastructure for faculty
development.
Builds and maintains partnerships with affiliate institutions and
community organizations locally, nationally, and
internationally.
Establishes strong metrics and outcomes for clinical and academic
performance.
Provide leadership and support for Section, Department, and
University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and
programs.
Facilitates collaboration across all mission areas with other
sections within the Department of Pediatrics, as well as other
departments within the University of Colorado School of Medicine
and other health sciences related units.
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in
Aurora, Colorado.

On the research front, the portfolio of the Section includes
clinical and translational research, population-based health
services research, and quality improvement. The Section is a
participant in the federally funded Pediatric Emergency Care
Applied Research Network, a multi-institutional network focusing on
research into the prevention and management of acute illnesses and
injuries in children and youth.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of
hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Associate
Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as
indicated below:
Associate Professor:
Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO) or foreign equivalent, MD/PhD
Board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.
Seven (7) years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic
Emergency Medicine program.
Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management
of Emergency Medicine services for pediatric patients.
Experience working with diverse patient populations.
Experience with and commitment to faculty career development
through mentoring.
Professor
Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO) or foreign equivalent, MD/PhD
Board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.
8-10 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic Emergency
Medicine program.
Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor.
Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management
of Emergency Medicine services for pediatric patients.
Experience working with diverse patient populations.
Experience with and commitment to faculty career development
through mentoring.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has
been established as HIRING RANGE:
* Associate Professor: $300,000 - $350,000
* Professor: $360,000 - $410,000

possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not
