Job Summary:
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery
at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children's
Hospital Colorado, has a full-time Assistant Professor position
available for a congenital cardiac surgeon. Candidates must be
board certified in Thoracic Surgery and eligible for subspecialty
certification in congenital cardiac surgery. Two or more years of
clinical experience in congenital cardiac surgery and/or clinical
and academic interest in Adult Congenital Cardiac Surgery would be
highly desirable.
This position provides inpatient/outpatient surgical care primarily
at the Children's Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado
Anschutz Medical Campus. Clinical Duties will include care for
children and adults of all ages with congenital cardiac defects.
The candidate will be asked to participate in marketing and
networking opportunities with referring providers. The candidate
must have excellent interpersonal skill and work well with all team
members of the health care setting. The candidate will also be
expected to engage in scholarly activities and education of student
resident and fellows within the University of Colorado system.
Significant clinical or basic science experience and extramural
funding will be viewed favorable.
Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of
hire.
Possess MD or DO degree
Possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of
Colorado.
Board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
Board Eligible or Certified for ABTS Subspecialty Certification in
Congenital Cardiac Surgery
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the care of children and adults with congenital heart
defects is strongly advised
Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication
skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and
patient population
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the professional medical and surgical practice to give
and evaluate patient care in the area of Congenital cardiothoracic
surgery.
Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to
administer patient care.
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer
patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a
safe work environment.
Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and
techniques of medicine and surgery to provide on-going patient
care.
Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition and
interpreting findings.
Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and
responding to correspondence.
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality
assurance.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working
relationships with patients and their family members, medical
staff, residents, fellows, medical students, and the public.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency
situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and
procedures.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has
been established as HIRING RANGE:
$650,000 to $725,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the
University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of
